Ok I will try that. Sorry about the hijack.
To answer your question; my Blues Junior is dead silent with the power switch off... Maybe you could try one of those? Edit: That could be because of the tubes I have in there though, they're NOS. A stock one might be slightly louder.

I'm trying to help. Have you tried inverting the guitar? Press the strings firmly against your torso. See if that helps.

Try removing the strings, it'll relax the neck and sound more natural
