Neck route help

I'm making a fully custom guitar that is half fender and explorer I'm going to add two emg hz humbuckers that I'm going to mount on the pick guard like a fender though that isn't my problem I'm just giving you a slight version of my design. I'm wondering if I need to leave the gap piece of wood between the neck and humbucker, a fender has I would like it to look like a sg. Would removing that piece cause any structural designs of the guitar or affect the sound a great amount. I'm also going to add a fender style whammy bar if that needs more strength in the body I honestly don't know I want this guitar to be playable not just to look good, please help.

I want to stick to my normal pickup that I get from a saga guitar kit because the sound perfect for my style of music but I can't find them anywhere without buying the entire kit.

What? Gap piece of wood?

The neck pickup cavities look different on the two because of the design.

The top of the neck pickup route appears to be missing on an SG. But.....

The SG is a set neck, and the neck route goes deeper into the body, all the way into the pickup cavity. The neck heel becomes the "top" of the pickup cavity once glued in.

The Fender just has the neck pickup cavity routed into the body top, as there is no need for the longer neck join.

I would like to just remove that circled pice of wood because I will have a pick guard covering that then I want to add the pickup where that pickup routs are. Would that cause the guitar to potentially break or mess with the sound of the guitar?

The pick guard is going to be covering it. What exactly is the point of removing it?
