Drop B and C on 7 string.

I'm currently at uni and only brought one guitar (my 7 string). I'm currently trying out for a band who use drop B and C, what is the best way to do this on my 7, as I won't be able to bring another guitar up in time, or have one which is suitable for these tunings. I was thinking tuning it down to Drop A and using a capo?

You could capo it. Or you could tune up. Or suck it up and play in B standard.

But for drop C.... Uhhhhh..... you can tune to GCGCFAD....

Not for Drop B.

Or you can get some thick strings and go the Baritone 7 way, F#BF#BEG#C#?

The baritone 7 way, may be a better option in the potential long run. Will probably do as you said and play Drop B in standard B, but for convinience atm, may just capo it for drop c

EDIT: what gauge strings would you advise for the Baritone 7 tuning?

Get a 6-string set of 13-56 (or 12-56) and buy a 70 for the bottom.

Skip the capo, get a .070 or .074 for the 7th string.

Then you would tune F# B F# B E G# C# for drop b, G C G C F A D for drop c.

Edit

you could buy these and then a .009 separately ghs-heavyweight-boomers-custom-lo-tune-electric-guitar-strings-heavy

.011 .014 .018 .036 .052 .070

Double the lowest string.

12-56 + 56 for example- CCGCFAD

beefs up yer chords

If you don't like experimenting I recommend drop C + G/drop B + F# as well
