My band's bassist has a schecter custom 5 and I suggested it because it's one of my favorite basses. Now something happened today where the string came off of the bridge. It didn't break, it just came off. He put it back on to get through the day, but I sense a bigger issue. He is very careful with all of his gear, so I don't think it's something he did. What could be wrong with it?

what was the tension like? the only time i've had that is when i had the string tuned really low added to the fact that i play pretty hard.
also, are the strings standard gauge? if they are a bigger gauge, they might be too big for the saddles slightly which could make it easier for them to come out.

^ that's sorta funny. He got it used and it had new strings on it. I assume that they are a standard 5 string set. He's tuned to standard. BEADG

Did the string just come off the saddle, or did it completely come out of the bridge (so it was hanging by the tuner only)? What kind of bridge does the Schecter have?
