I do not like Mastodon. Mastodon is dah gay.
I'm sorry ![]() EDIT: To be honest, I'm listening to it atm and you definitely spiced it up with the D-beat drumming and all. The riff at 29 sounds cool, although in GP the bass seems to clash a bit, although it's harmonizing: maybe it's just the MIDI. The part at 77 it also sounds cooler, with the clean guitars and the somewhat odd harmonies. The next section also sounds nice with the double bass/tremolo pick action. Return of the previous riffs, like the original song, sounds k. You also changed the riff at 188, which is koo. But to be honest, you were beaten to it at making Mastodon more badass:

I want to record a cover of the song. Did a tab so I could get the bass, drums and riffs down. Felt like putting it up here to see if it sounds good to other people.

Is beyond measure 77 even humanly playable?
I was enjoying that hardcore-punk d-beat reinidition of the main riff but I'm not a big fan of the dissonance. The tremelo picking section is rad. PS: What ****ed up tuning is that? Isn't Mastodon tuning D standard with the low D dropped to A?

Cheers for the feedback. To answer some questions: The bit at 77 is just layered harmonies, each line is recorded separately. Dont think anyone could play that like it is :P My understanding is that Mastodon used D standard for this song and album, and Drop C from then on. This tuning is Open A#major7: A# F A# F A D Its nifty and very expressive in certain ways, but conventional lead/solo playing is difficult.
