Glad to hear that! I've just never found a Gainy Doomz sound I've actually liked yet!

What a coincidence. How did you like it?

I'm pretty sure that Sleep vid I posted earlier in this thread was with an AOR. Should be no problem. I'd get some JJ preamp tubes, an OD pedal as mentioned and maybe even an EQ pedal in the loop (if it has one).

pretty badass. I felt nerdy playing Dragonaut 1st thing and then some War Pigs. How typical but damn it sounded good.

Yeah dude. Matt Pike's running an AOR in the Dragonaut video. It's awesome.

I'm after a decent treble booster and wah pedal to enhance the doomy aroma's, any suggestions? I think the dunlop cry baby looks interesting but have never tried one.

For treble boosters, I suggest the Smallsound/Bigsound Sparkle Motion. Rangemaster clone but with more versatility.

the Vox wah is better IMO stock than the basic crybaby

for doom or stoner, I'd get the Jerry Cantrell sig. Darker sounding, and you can get that "awh" sound easier with the knob on the side.

I'd have to say that Wo Fat's newest is my favorite doom release from last year:

Also, topic needs some Church of Misery:

They're pretty affordable for hand-made Orange clones. But I require a midrange control.

It's mean as ****. I was super keen on VTMs when I saw a picture of John and Brian of Baroness playing VTM120s. So I picked this guy up and it seems pretty gnarly. It's supposedly like a JCM800 with 6L6s. At least that's what people say. I'll get to play around with it a bit more tomorrow. I dig it though.

My friend's dad had one for a while, but parted ways with it before my friend really picked up guitar. They slay that midrangey doom tone; My bud will not be patient and wait for the right one to show up, instead buying all manner of crummy SS Marshall. Eww.

Speaking of which, he was looking for decent all tube amps that can cover guitar AND bass... The only thing that comes to mind is old Sunn stuff, but they're getting harder to find without paying a premium. Any other ideas?

Being an owner of 2 different AORs in the past 2 years, I don't understand what the deal with boosting them is (the model I use anyway). The 6 knob models tend to have less gain, but that's because they don't utilize all of the V1 and V2 tubes like the models with AOR boost do. Unless I'm running a particular fuzz in front of mine, I'll never put an OD to boost it. Ever.

TLDR: 6 knobs might need some extra tools for the job (boost, etc), but IMHO, the 8 knob AORs do it all (in terms of stoner/doom/sludge).

Don't mean to sound preachy, just trying to dispel rumors.
