How do I sound more Metalcore?

I like bands like Parkway Drive, August Burns Red, Killswitch Engage, ect... who are Metalcore, I would like my guitar to, depending on the tuning, sound similar to that. Currently this is my equipment:

Guitar: esp ltd v-200

Pedals: Boss Metal Zone MT-2, BBE AM 64

Amp: Crate RFX 120

So I don't really know how good this setup is, because I never really looked that hard into equipment. But now that I have been playing for a few years I have started to dig a little deeper. I have about a $400-$600 budget for purchasing new stuff. If this is fine already I was thinking about buying a second guitar instead with the money, suggestions on that would be appreciated.

Ok so it looks like I should invest in the Peavey 6505 112 combo? I am actually going to research on the web more because, everyone's judgement on here is clearly clouded by ignorance... and stereotypes.

^^^Not possible my nads hang to the floor.

Yeah... I am more than likely going to never use these forums again. Silly me, thinking people on the internet are ever going to be serious. Kthnxbye <3

A new amp would help you get a "metalcore tone" much more so than a new guitar.

I would look into getting a Peavey 6505 112 combo, you can pick up a new one for $600 and a used one for much less. A lot of metalcore bands use this amp, and it has a great tone for the genre.

Agreed with the above posters.

Look in the Gear Ads. Someone is selling a 5150 combo. The might do shipping if your close enough.

Where are you located?

I just went through what your doing. The Peavey 6505+ 112 combo is the best choice for metalcore etc. I got mine used from guitar center for $470 and it's in like new condition, but if you go that route just make sure to call an make sure they have it in stock.

$470 used? That's pretty high. I wouldn't pay a dime over $400.

And you can get them for $500 new at GC right now, using their "$100 off purchase of $599" October sale.

The BBE AM64 is awesome. I just had to say it. It's more Marshall than metalcore but it is awesome. I've been thinking about getting a new amp and the more i play with the 64 the more I just want a clean tube amp and keep using the 64. I'm sorry this didn't help the TS but man, I just love that pedal.

Apparently the metal zone works really well as a boost in front of a distorted amp. So the amp would be set up with all the gain you want, put the EQ of the boss pedal relatively flat and then turn the distortion on the pedal to 0 and the volume to 10. I know it's designed to be a distortion pedal but it does apparently really work as a boost to a distorted amp.

Sell your amp and pedals, get a used Peavey 6505+ 112 combo, a Digitech Bad Monkey and an MXR 10 Band.

Instant metalcore.

I'd say go for the Peavey tube vypyr 60. i have it, u can get some good metal tones, and the cleans sound great plus theres a bunch of effects. only around $500 plus tax from axemusic.com. check it out. and get a guitar with EMG pickups. oh and sell ur pedals. u don't need em with this amp, it doesnt take pedals very good.

No need to get a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none when you know what you want, and could get the king of all metalcore amps at the same price point.

I think your choice is clear, TS.

I was just thinking in the long run that he isn't going to always play only metalcore, most likely hes going to move on to other styles and expand on his influences. so this amp will be better in that way.
