Okay, Maul as a character was awesome actually. I wish they did more with him. Throw him in there with the general then! My mistake

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I really enjoyed Hayden Christensen's performance in the movie. He was so dreamy. It makes his descent into evil so much more heartbreaking. Plus his chemistry with Portman would be hard to recreate with another actor. All in my opinion of course |

The only way this could be good is if they base the new movies on the already existing Expanding Universe.

You seen those starving children in Africa? They're light weight and black, those kids got speed and jumps. They'll be fine. 3 Films though? Well...I don't know what to think. I don't have high hopes, and I definitely don't have high hopes if it's a pixar film.

You forgot the lightsaber duels. Also, I blame Hayden's Christensen's performance on Lucas's direction.

I include those with the special effects. =] I always say 90% of bad acting is bad directing. Sometimes an actor is just shit, though. Portman was shoddy, but look at her in other films where she is much better. I can't say Hayden's ever been good for me. I mean, he was one of the worst things in Factory Girl with the worst Bob Dylan portrayal I've ever seen, and in the same movie Guy Pearce gives a brilliant Andy Warhol performance. You are right though. Lucas's directing was pretty shite with the prequels. There's a reason why he didn't direct all of the original trilogy. Quote:
I thought he had absolutely no command as a main character. I dunno. I can't stand him as an actor at all. Portman's pretty good at making chemistry in films. Hell, her few minutes with Jude Law in Cold Mountain were better imo. I guess I can see what you mean about his descent, which is a fair point, but if that's the case he could have done more. Pacino's descent in The Godfather was brilliant and he wasn't some happy go lucky guy at the beginning either. He was relatively neutral as a person but just a good guy. Kind of similar here. The difference is, when Pacino got evil, it was pretty damn frightening. When Hayden did, I was just indifferent. I know there aren't many Al Pacino's in the world, but it's just an example.

+1 I want a new one/remake of 2 like you wouldn't believe. EDIT: Also, bros, I'm going to write up a letter asking that Rian Johnson be the director/writer. Maybe then we'll get a great ****ing triology. (Looper, anyone?)

Jude Law had a lot more experience behind him than Christensen, not to mention the fact that he has worked with Portman on other occasions and therefore had the chance to build up a rapport. Hayden Christensen isn't taken seriously because of his looks which is a real shame because he's more than just sexy, he's a real talent. |

See, the weird thing is you are raising good points at times, Simon. Fair enough about Jude Law's experience. However, I honestly think Hayden just isn't a good actor. I even come from the same town as him. I've met his wife/girlfriend/whatever Rachel Bilson, and his high school is literally a five minute drive from me. I should be rooting for a hometown native, but no. I think he's crap. I'm sorry and it has nothing to do with his looks ahaha. Michael Fassbender's a "pretty boy" too but he damn well earned his keep as a breakout star. Hayden didn't do enough and that's why he's not big or in much. Looks only get you so far but talent takes you all of the way.

No but I'd happily swap bank balances with him at any time. I just think he gets a hard time for very little reason. That's merely my opinion. |

I agree to an extent. I'm a big Fassbender fan (gotta root for my fellow Irish) but he didn't have as much spotlight glaring on him from the start. Taking on such an iconic role at what was essentially the start of his career left Christensen open to harsh criticism that was always going to appear when he wasn't exactly what the original had called for. |
