New Squier Vintage Modified Series

Anyone out there thinking of getting one of the new Squier VM Series guitars? The VM Telecaster Deluxe or the Custom look pretty nice to me

Vintage Modified Tele Special:

Vintage Modified Tele Deluxe:

Vintage Modified Jaguar:

Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom:

Vintage Modified Jazzmaster:

Vintage Modified Mustang:

I believe they will be for sale starting the 13th, but I could be wrong.

I really want the Tele Deluxe, and I know about a million Paramore fans who are also happy to see one with Wide Range pickups for a more reasonable price (sod paying £800 for the Mexican-made version, you can get MIA and MIJ guitars for that). The Jazzmaster and Tele Custom have me interested too.

My main problem is I flat-out refuse to support Chinese manufacture, so I've got to keep my fingers crossed these are going to be made in either Indonesia or India like the older Vintage Modified models. I also really hope they have just been photographed poorly and that the neck tints aren't so canary yellow.

There's no mustang option but that's what I would have picked.

I hate P90s so tele special is out, I already have a Tele Deluxe, I can't imagine the Tele custom having a usable balance of pickup output but maybe I'm wrong. Which leaves the offsets, I already have a jazzmaster so the a jaguar wouldn't be that different I don't think and I have reservations about the pickup selection on jags.

I know some people have already had them delivered so it may be the 13th where you are but not everywhere.

That's not a P-90, that's a Jazzmaster pickup. World of difference.

You're wrong. Obviously I've yet to play this particular model, but the Tele Custom layout (i.e. SxH) is very good and usually balances very well unless you're a total moron and put a high-output metal humbucker at the neck and a low-output country single coil in the bridge.

My mistake that makes it more interesting to me.

I've been there with fat strats you can balance the output but not without compromising the sound to a certain degree and how much of a degree that is on this guitar I don't know. Basically it may or may not be a problem for me but I don't know.

What are you on about? The last one is a mustang. Unless I am misunderstanding and somehow what you are saying means different things to the two of us.

The jaguar looks tasty in Olympic white, I like the tele deluxe too. But I prefer the SSH tele they released a while back.

Been thinking about having a clear out of my gear and picking up one of the new squiers or maybe a lower end fender, think there putting out some nice gear lately.

I wouldn't pick any of those, but gun to my head, it would be one the Teles, probably the Special.

All of the VM series are being made in Indonesia (including these new ones). Personally I'm torn between a Mustang or a Jag or a Jazz, and those Tele customs and deluxes look pretty damn tempting as well..

I love all of those but if I had to pick it would be the tele deluxe or mustang.

Edit: If the tele deluxe had a strat trem and walnut finish like I think I've seen some originals from the 70s with then there'd be no contest.

I've pre-ordered a Surf Green Jaguar I'm sure it will take some setting up but I'm looking forward to it! First time in ages I've been excited about a bit of gear.

I now have Gas for that Telecaster, maybe when I'm back in College I can start saving, every guitarist should have a Telecaster!
