Hello, since my guitar is having some truss rod issues I am about to purchase a new one, and although I was going to buy an EC-1000 I don't want to invest so much money again in fear another similar issue might come up.

So I want a fixed bridge guitar for metal, playing mostly in standard but also drop d and maybe drop c.

I saw this Ibanez RG1451 which is looking fine, any comments on the ibanez tight end bridge it has?

There is also another model I am interested in, the RG1570z but this comes with edge zero tremolo so I am not sure if it's as easy to downtune, and is also 200€ more expensive than the 1451.

Suggestions?

I currently own that RG1451 and it's very suitable for metal/down tuning. I only have tuned it to D but I'm sure it'll handle lower tunings aswell. You might also want to check out RGA 121.

And yeah the bridge on the RG1451 is really comfortable and very solid. With edge / floyd rose tremolos you can easily tune the guitar down but the problem is that you can't change the tuning as easily as with fixed bridge guitars. If you're planning to stay in one tuning then it's not a huge problem though. But I still recommend not getting a floyd/edge guitar if you don't use the tremolo.

Btw can you give us a little information about that truss rod problem on your current guitar?

I own an Ibanez RGA42 and a RGA72... 72 is better, lighter, and overall feels better but both are very similar. 42 is definitely a guitar I love and don't regret getting. I used it for drop C,B,A#,A and now I'm using it for standard and drop D and I must say it does it's job in any tuning. I'm using the 72 for my low tunings now which is basically an upgraded and more expensive version of 42. They both got active pickups.. I would really recommend the RGA series bro

How are the pickups on your guitar? I am using a vypyr 30 and for leads I use the built in boost stompbox as well so I suppose going from the active emgs to the passives won't be such an issue, will probably sound cleaner.

Also is the built quality good? Last ibanez I tried(1550mz) was buzzing a bit and that is more expensive than the 1451.

Well, the pickups are your typical Ibanez. Nothing too special, but they've worked well for me. I'm mostly playing some Dream Theater, Van Halen, Scorpions etc. The neck pup is very similiar to Air Norton, if you have any experience with that and the bridge pickup kinda reminds me of Evolution. Not as good as those pickups but still a pretty decent. This video describes the pups well

The build quality is your typical Prestige. I can get a low action without fret buzzing, well actually there's a little bit buzz while playing unplugged but it won't come through the amp when plugged in. No sharp edges on the frets, very clean soldering. Perfect shape straight out of the box.

I don't know what he expects really. From what I can see, his hand is way further up the fretboard than what looks normal for when people are muting. At any rate, most guitars have the neck pickup in that exact same position. I don't really see what they could do about it, short of just not having a neck pickup in there?

Well I personally don't see anything wrong with that technique, I have lowered the neck bucker pretty low so my pick won't hit it. I don't think there's anything wrong with the design of that guitar, it's just like every other prestige Ibanez's out there, just with fixed bridge.

You can get a used RGD Prestige or just a non-prestige RGD

I have an Ibanez RGD7421 and I love it. Sure, the pickups SUCK, but it's Ibanez. That's to be expected.
