Swap the pickups out for a set of Bareknuckles or similar, it'll play very well and sound awesome. Besides, you said you didn't want to spend that kind of money again ![]()

Listen to Zaph, TS. Don't be all 'eww it's cheap'. Ibanez make good affordable guitars.

Yes but I am sure the ibanez 1451 which is a prestige model would worth spending the extra money on? Plus I like it more look wise.

Actually, from what I've read, the RG14XX are pretty crappy compared to the higher number Prestiges. Kind of a tip off that the 14XX comes with a gigbag instead of a case.
But that's just what I've read. I'm not trying to push you into getting a cheaper guitar, and I do think a Prestige is notably better where it matters that can't be quantified on paper (construction, frets, finish). You're going to want to replace pups regardless. Only the top level Prestiges have good pups. I didn't catch how far you're tuning down, but unless it's B or lower, you don't really *need* the extra scale length.

Where did you read that? Cause I only read good things. Also the anniversary models of the RG1451's used to come with hard case and one pickup.

They sold the RG1451's without a case because they wanted them to be more affordable prestige series. If it had a case when I bought it, it would've cost the same as RG1570 for example. That's what they told me when I got mine.

You don't need a longuer scale if you get the right string gauge. I have an ART100 (24.75 scale) in Drop C and it's great!
Don't buy an Ibanez for the pickup, most likely you will change them for something that fits you more. That a great thing about them, they don't put High End Pickup and built up the price on something you might change. |

Can you put active emgs on these? although there is no battery pot.
If not what would be the best passive pickup choice similar to EMG 81-60 setup?

Just around here, someone said they played one and it didn't feel too great compared to other Prestiges. It was a while ago, can't remember the exact details.
EMGs are super easy. And most modern guitars should have more than enough space to fit the battery in between the pots in the control cavity. Especially if you use mini pots (which I think all EMG pots might be mini anyway). The new solderless system makes installing EMGs stupidly easy. It's literally plug-n-play. I think the only thing that needs to be soldered is the selector switch. If you want to go passive, first place to look is the DiMarzio D Activator set. They're designed to sound like actives (or at least the stereotypical active sound. Being passives they can't actually get the amount of range and dynamic that actives have).

So I just saw this goddess:
http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/elect...=12081409062532 It's the RG721RW, premium model. Anyone has input about this? Would it be a better choice over the 1451 model? More pics from a member here: http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/st...h-goodness.html ![]()

I haven't played any Premium Ibanez's yet but I've heard they're almost on the same level as the Prestiges. I guess that'll do fine, you should really play it first though.
