Doesn't really mean anything. I've heard dubstep remixes of Elton John songs.

Good ones, at that.

Doesn't mean Elton John is secretly dubstep or vice versa. It just means that talented musicians can take a melody or harmonic structure and put it into any number of different musical contexts.

Well, you know what I always say, "don't do anything half ass, go for baroque"!

In fact, this thread gives me a great idea, a "go for baroque part night". Powdered wigs mandatory.

What a fun night of guffaws with the local nobility that would be. Come one, come all! Crack out your lutes and harpsichords, we'll play triplets and trills until dawn. Perhaps even bake a cake or three for the peasants....

I'd suggest holding the affair at the local church, but the only one with a pipe organ is now a mosque. (Unless they junked the pipes as scrap metal)....

No.

Counterpoint is "the relationship between voices that are harmonically interdependent (polyphony), but independent in rhythm and contour."

Everything in dubstep is a slave of the beat. Independence in rhythm and contour != dubstep.

As far as I'm concerned it's an irritant because my neighbours like to play it from their cars at "Christ sake it's far too bloody early for that" o'clock.

Musically - it's an EDM subgenre.

Although - do I detect irony in your question?
