discord foreign thunder echoed through the concrete arches
dripping down to railway dungeons led by escalator squeaking - all these voices we grow deaf to from the great mechanic monster "we have tamed him" teeth thrashing, under cage now snarling, waiting.

This gives a great sense of silence and of the impending fury personified when a subway rushes by. I'd like to know what was happening before "we" tamed the monster, though.
Short ones are always refreshing
