Help identifying a Squier
I Just recently bought a squier not the most expensive guitar i know but its all solid wood has squier ingraved tuners compensating pickups and a 3 ply pickguard.
Problem is idiot i got it from took the serial number off of it and the only thing i can find is the number 8 in sharpie marker on the neck plate which is also just a blank plate. the guitar is very heavey and has a nice maple neck with im thinking a rose wood fret board also It only says Squier Strat on the headstock and has two rectangular string trees any help would be great thanks. Neck also has the brown stripe running up the back if that helps im at a loss. |

Why did the guy you got it from take off the serial number? Where'd you get this, off Craig's List? I hate to say this but it sounds like it might be stolen.

It sounds like a Squier Strat SE. They tend to have the full size neck and body, with the skunk stripe on the neck. But pics would definitely help.

I'm a little concerned about the serial being scratched off, as well. I can't see anyone making a "fake" Squier, but the stolen aspect is definitely possible... though again, a stolen Squier Strat... that would be kind of strange in my risk VS reward assessment. |

Well, once someone broke into my parents house and stole my Lyon by Washburn. The cops found it in a pawn shop. Of course they didn't take just the guitar, they went or a rampage and took anything they thought might be valuable. Last edited by Huge Guy : 11-06-2012 at 07:34 PM. |

Looks like your run of the mill Squier affinity strat. Bridge saddles were replaced with aftermarket saddles. Knobs, pickguard and pickups look to have been replaced as well, but otherwise, it's just a typical Squier affinity strat.

I would hope this brought the criminals to justice, as pawn shops usually take down seller information. At least those that I've been to. |

Plus the seller gave me all original parts no bridge saddles and no single ply pickguard its 3 ply which i believe affinitys are single. His address so i could pick it up and his phone number and hes local so i think im good. Regardless its a nice playing guitar and the Dimarzio was worth the
price alone. |

Ok glad you solved the mystery. I don't think the Lyon by Washburns have serial #'s (or even model #'s) either. |
