why would someone suddenly"deactivate"their facebook account
i know it sounds like a dumb question and it is...lol..but it's just confusing how they have so many close friends they keep in touch with and they just wanna disappear..

Deactivating your FB just hides it from everyone except Facebook. It's essentially the most extreme privacy setting. Getting it back is a snap.
I guess one reason people do it is to get rid of a distraction. Some people ask for bans here for that reason.

i'm just upset...because this girl i was friends with who seemed really lively today...just suddenly disappeared....her icon(blank) still shows up on my friends list and chat box etc...really supportive of things i did,music she would share etc.....anyway that;'s besides the point...she seemed fine today,but she has so many close friends on there,myself included..so i know she didn't block or delete me,because of the reasons i just mentioned(her on my friends list and her icon showing up in my chat box),just kinda concerned what happened with her

If you're that close, why don't you just text or call her.
EDIT: If she's overseas, contact her via MSN or Skype? I'm sure if she's close to you, you would've got those 2 contact details by now.

I don't know, it gets kind of annoying to know all your shit is on the internet.
Plus, when you grow up into seriousland, it's a smart move to get off that shit knowing they're gonna check you out. Regardless of how tight your profile security is. You wanna work for the government here? Tightening your security ain't gonna do shit, if they want in, then they get in. Even if you delete everything, there's still a chance stuff might be left on there, especially if you're a mass poster and are constantly doing shit on facebook. |

You think deactivating facebook is weird? I have a friend who's plans for after school (which we finish in about a month) are to move overseas, change name, and lose contact with everyone she knows.

Just use some other way of contacting her, if your her close friend, but don`t even have a phone number or anything, you sound more like a stalker.
