Chopping on Acoustic..
Kinda new to Acoustic guitar..When "chopping" do i strum all 6 strings or just the 3-6 for instance..When i strum all 6 the 1st string seems to "whine" or Ring a bit..Chopping is not as easy as it looks..Thanks

I have to say I don't know what you mean by "chopping"; this isn't a term I've heard before.

strumming an muting with palm of right hand as your strumming down,,im new so hard to describe,,..kinda like in night moves i hear this..an let me know what this is really called please...youtube "Chopping - GuitarFACE Episode 17 " is example

Ah, I see what you're talking about now.
It doesn't matter how many strings you hit as long as you get that percussive sound out of the guitar. It's not something that really needs much analysis or precision; I did it a bit just now and varied a bit between hitting 2, 3 and 4 strings. At times I actually hit the body of the guitar with my picking hand fingers as well; it all adds to the sound. I think the most important thing is that you hit the lower strings, they're the ones that give the sound the body it needs to sound the way you want.
