Good replacement pickups?

A friend gave me a Synyster Gates Signature guitar, and frankly, I do not care for the pickups. I am looking for good replacement pickups, and I am not a fan of EMGs. SO - are there any DiMarzio pickups that will work really well with the Syn guitar?

What don't you like about them and what do you want to change about the tone?

Also what amp are you using?

i've heard good things about the D-Activators from DiMarzio. Also I've been seeing more and more good things from the humbuckers made by Lace, the drop n gains and the semi. Then of course there are the Bareknuckles which get much praise on UG, but i have not heard much of them
