Hi, first post.

I'm pretty new at playing guitar and would like to ask for suggestions on acquiring a crunchy "crushing"-type of heavy guitar sound.

I am talking of a sound similar to Black Sabbath, Bleach-era Nirvana, Melvins etc. as opposed to higher-pitched "screaming guitar" type of distortion a la 80s metal.

So what should my amp and pedal settings be for that? As extra info, I have an Epiphone LP-100 guitar, a Yamaha GA-15 amp and an Artec Soloist distortion pedal.
