UK UK custom guitars?

Gassing like buggery at the mo for a prs tremonti se (custom). At £700 I think maybe that's a bit steep and wonder whether I ought to be looking to save a little more and getting something else.

It got me wondering - are there any reasonably priced uk manufacturers I should be looking at?

I've only been playing a couple of years and although I've been lucky enough to experiment a bit, I've never strayed from the beaten track....

I wish i could but I like the finish on the new custom SE - I'm a bit of a tart

It also gets a trem and a thicker body which is of course equally important

Can you save up for it? If it's the one you want, it's the one you want. Buying something else just because it's cheaper won't stop you wanting the guitar you really wanted.

This thread is vaguely confusing to be honest. The title says "custom guitars" and then you just mention companies in general and the PRS SE line...

If you're looking for actual custom guitars, you will never find one worth going to for less money than what you would spend on that PRS.

If you're looking for UK companies, the only ones I can really think of are Vintage and Indie but I don't think either of them make what you're looking for.

Save up for the guitar, you'll get exactly what you want and it'll feel so sweet when you get it.

I wasn't too worried about the cost - more thinking is it good value, can I do better if I save up a few hundred etc?

Bit worried if I went for the tremonti se I'd be disappointed with the quality.

I was wondering what the options were if I looked at a uk manufacturer, like Jayden rose etc

For a variety of reasons, I was looking at custom luthiers in the UK. I found a lot of them, but the lowest price I found for a NEW guitar from any of them was £1000.

may well be worth considering- if you ask me the SEs are dear at £700 (though I haven't tried that exact one). there's the likes of feline, legra, jaden rose, wez venables, stormshadow, probably some other obvious ones I'm forgetting...

also keep an eye out on guitar shop websites, sometimes they have deals on (especially in the current economic climate).

as dannalcatraz says, though, don't expect to pay any less than £1000, and maybe a bit more.

Ok, I'll look those luthiers up thanks.

So are PRS SE more comparable to say LTD 401 than EC1000 in terms of quality?

yeah probably. not sure i've tried the 401s. but i'd have preferred the 1000 to the SEs i've tried, yeah.

i haven't tried them for a while, though. so they may well have changed

Have a look at the Gordon Smith webiste there might be something there that might fit with what you want.
I doubt you would be dissapointed with the quality of the PRS SE though, I have a SE245 and an EC1000(both Korean). I can't tell any diff in the quality of the two.

Check out Siggery and Organic guitars too, both built in the UK and both excellent value and quality.

When you say, you realise this isn't going to 1000 pounds, siggery and my vote Daemoness, will be over 2000.

In a budget kind of range I would say chapman guitars. They are available from Andertons only but, they are really cheap with crappy pickups and whatnot so you can buy a really good core guitar and then upgrade them as you get more money.

ok, thanks for all the suggestions

I'm gonna spend a bit of time looking at the custom options but have decided I'll hold tight and save longer as I'll have more options.
