Help on choosing a pedal
Have cruddy equipment: Epiphone Les Paul Standard, Marshall 30FX, and a vox wah. That's it. I'm poor, but I've been playing guitar for about 3 1/2 years (just for recreation) and I'm looking to get a good OD/Distortion/Fuzz pedal of some sort that will give me a good sharp crunchy tone. I'm looking for a 70's type blues-rock/stoner-rock/sludgy sound that will work well with my gear. I'm in the price range of around $80-$175.
All suggestions welcome :P |

so many options, go to a shop and play around with stuff. if there are guitarists you like and wanna get close to that would help too. you could go with anything from a ts9 to a big muff, it sounds like you are going more towards british style tone, look into an ocd for the bluesy-rock stuff but when used right it can be used for pretty heavy stuff

I wish we had a lot of shops here, there's just one guitar center, but I tried a few there, the Slash MXR was fun to play but I didn't really get the sound I wanted out of it. I originally had my eye on the Big Muff Pi but it sounds just a bit too sustainish. The OCD that you mentioned sounds great I've looked it up, I like the sound it has with that kinda delay/hollow but still thick crunchy sound. Yeah, it's that british sound :P
Also: Had any experience with a Fulltone Fulldrive2? Last edited by zeppfloyd93 : 11-12-2012 at 12:09 PM. |

i mean with your top budget close to $200 you might be able to get two dirt pedals if you shop used, a used ts9 can be had for like $60 on a good day. the big muff is a specialized beast but when it's in the right arena it kills, you could try out the fuzzface style pedals also. i'm a fan of stacking od pedals, i stack two of my tubescreamers on occasion, theres also the few dirt pedals that boss makes that are worth it, blues driver and the super overdrive. you're in that situation where you really could walk in and just point to something and leave with it, it might be what you want it might not

Yeah I was thinking about that also, getting some cheap boss pedals, but I'm going to look into the OCD some more, that one sounds good, thanks for the advice :P

that's the dual channel with the boost on it? I have not, I've haven't played much fulltone, i don't even own the ocd, but they do make some good stuff, i've been really into their octafuzz recently. I'm on the waiting list for the analogman king of tone which is another dual channel OD

Double your price range and get an amp... You'll be much happier in the long run.

Yeah that's it. The octafuzz sounds good and the king of tone sounds really good! Yeah, I would like to upgrade to a new amp, I've had this Marshall for quite a while and it's just no fun anymore, I can't get the sounds I want, I had to take the foot controller connector and switch it with the input just to get the input to work, it gets lots of bad sounding feedback now and crackles =/ I will check into those 2 thank you so much |
