Choosing an overdrive pedal
I have a H&K Tubemeister 5 (plugged via the redbox) into a line 6 pod interface.
I play with a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster, stock. I am looking for an overdrive pedal to get the pride and joy tone. My current amplifier has plenty of gain, but it is not the right tone. Would I get better results with a TS9 (clean boost)? No budget. |

SRV used tubescreamers so a TS9 is probably a pretty safe bet. I'm not exactly clear on your set up though, so it may be a futile excercise.

i think the pod has an overdrive pedal in it but if you don't like it then i'm not sure if you can run effects pedals with the pod at the same time if you want a really good overdrive pedal you should check out blackstars ht pedal range. the pedals are pretty awesome becuase they have a tube in them(i think a 12ax7) and they sound great

^He's using the pod interface, not the pod modeling unit... But I don't completely understand why or what for.

A TS9 would do the trick. Gain off, level on full, tone to 1 O'clock. Use the neck/middle pickup setting on your guitar. Gain to taste, give it plenty of treble on the amp and twang away.
I'd consider using 12' strings too to help with the tone/style of playing. |

^^But it's important to note that a TS-9 is just fine for the same sound.

The H&K Tubemeister 5 has an emulated output. I use the line 6 pod farm as an audio interface. Only a reverb is used.
Opinions seems to be going for the TS9 or TS808, I'll look into them. |

TS9 and TS808 are indistinguishable from what I've been told (by opinions I trust.) The basic consensus is that the TS808 has a beefed up switch, but no tonal variances.

the ts9 and 808 are pretty much the same thing, the only difference that i *think* i hear between mine is the 808 has slightly less gain when it's dimed out, and the 808 also is better for a clean boost. but either one would be a fine choice
