slow stuff

What are some slow stuff that gives you a real hard time trying to play?
I'm tired of speed being such a major factor when it's time to determine what is hard to play.
What are your slow demons?

Playing slowly can **** up your rhythm big time, because there's more room for error. I can't tell you how many times I've seen guys who can just shred their balls off, but if you ask them to play quarter notes at 40 bpm, they can't even come close.

I think even for playing slow speed is still the major issue

the piece is very slow, however it includes quite a bit of technique and movement that is incredibly difficult to get up to speed

I still can't play little wing, even being slower theres a lot going on in that song. A lot of guys can't do bass+melody fingerpicking, I've been practicing that though.

Yep, one of my favorites too (having revisited Funkadelic has reminded me of how awesome he was). I also recommend Andrew Latimer (from the band Camel ). Really great stuff that's not shred but really sings.

My personal demon is 'Canon in D' by Pachelbel, mainly because of shifting. And because I still have issues counting 32nd notes correctly.

Outside of the orchestral world, then it definitely goes to 'Wishful Thinking' by Petrucci.

Could it be that your fast stuff is out of time too, but you have less time to notice?

very very common problem. i've never met someone who could keep time at a fast tempo but not at a slow tempo, and vice versa.

to have the physical ability to play it is certainly another matter, but to be able to discern the beat is something you either can or cannot do.

That piece actually isn't that hard to get down. At least for me it wasn't.

But anywho, I'm learning piano now and I could mess up a million times over playing the dinkiest little practice exercise and yet its easier to play rondo alla turka or Fur Elise.

Although that may be because those pieces are in Am.

Meh, I've been thinking about finding something from The Well Tempered Clavier. Maybe a less common key.
