Driving stick

If I really put my mind and energy into learning how to drive a car (actually a shitty old pick-'em-up truck) with a stick shift, could I do it in two days?

Could you learn how to make the car move? Sure, no problem.

Could you learn to drive at a standard that's safe on the road? Not a chance.

Are you used to driving automatic? If so, not a chance you'll learn manual in 2 days.

Wait, do you already know how to drive, but need to learn how to drive manual, or do you not know how to drive at all?

I'm used to driving auto, so I just need to learn "manual."

You can learn it comfortably in like an hour or two.

Manual is not that difficult. But it is so much better than automatic.

Then yea, I don't see why you couldn't learn in two days. It really isn't that hard

It'll definitely be easier than learning from scratch then, but it still takes a lot of time to learn how to control the clutch, hold the bite to avoid rolling backwards, moving off uphill etc.

Have fun starting on a steep up-hill. Too antsy and you stall, too slow and you roll back into somebody before panicking and stalling.

Are you sure? Because every time I've been in a truck that's "manual", it lurches pretty violently whenever you change gears.

Who cares. Cars will be driving themselves in the near future.

And that's exactly what I mean by clutch control lol.

Since this is the only difficult part about manual, two days of practicing should be enough to at least be competent.

You'll be able to move the car, but you wouldn't be good enough to pass a test.

You can learn how in 2 days but you probably won't feel comfortable enough to drive on the road with other people.

I learned in about 10 minutes. I think I was 13 or so... As long as you have a good teacher (like my dad) to tell you when you are doing it right, when you are doing it wrong, what you should be doing, and what you shouldn't be doing/ should never do, all will be fine. It's very easy and I prefer manual transmissions.
