Surely its much better to learn in manual? |

If you live in a relatively flat place you could learn well enough to drive in traffic within a day. Harder things like delicate clutch control, clutch popping, clutch dragging, incline control, etc etc will come with time.

Dude, i learnt how to drive that in like 10 minutes. And if you pracice for like 4 hours you will be able to normaly drive in traffic, or even less. My instructor took me to the road on my 2nd hour.
In my opinion, everyone should learn how to drive on a manual transmition car. Its just stupid that you are able to get a drivers license, but you are still unable to drive half of the goddamn cars. My driving school didn't even have one automatic car. Maybe i'm just not getting the american learning system?

Most Americans drive autos. There are so few manual trans cars that it's considered a good deterrent to car thieves. There are stories of people attempting to steal cars and failing cause they never learned what a clutch was.
Also it's reaaallly easy to get a license here. |

Nearly all cars in the US have automatic transmissions. Very few people learn how to drive with a manual, usually just car enthusiasts. Manual transmissions and dual-clutch automated transmissions are getting more popular now that people actually care about fuel economy, but you'd still be hard-pressed to find someone that can actually drive one. This is an exaggeration. Or maybe it depends on where you live (America is a big place.) I live in Oregon and while automatic is probably the most popular choice, myself and all of my male friends drive cars with manual transmission, and I'm certainly not a car enthusiast (don't know shit about cars.) OP, learning to drive will take a couple hours. There are really only two things to know: how to shift and when to shift. Most of the time it's identical to driving any other car.

Man, manuals are just getting in style here, and most people hate them. And if you drive anautomatic in driving school, you are not allowed to drive a manual. You get a little note on your driver's license.
Do you guys even have driving schools? As in, you go there, and you get in a car with the instructor, then drive around, and only when you pass the driving school test can you take the final driving test and get a license.

^^ I took a 3 month class in highschool but there was no test at the DMV. I just went and picked up my license after 50 hours behind the wheel with either family or a teacher.
Here in the midwest I swear everyone drives an automatic. I know 3 people who don't. |
