I need some help/advice guys
Alright, so essentially the quick version of the story is:
- My mother is very sick, she's in the hospital. - I'm now taking care of my brother, myself, and the house, and paying the bills, and making sure my brother goes to school and whatnot - Basically I'm in charge now with all this responsibility. So, I think all the responsibility and independence is gonna be an interesting challenge. Some of you may know me from my previous "help me with my stupid brother" threads This is sorta like that, but that isn't the biggest problem anymore. Me and my brother are very messy/lazy and I need to fix this. We can't stop being messy and lazy, and just clean up and organize and tidy etc. Also, what are easy suppers I can make? I'm just looking for any kind of advice. Some from Jackal, or the guy with the Gianna Michaels avatar, or Harvey Swick, or any other fathers/parents would be great.

You can make soup. Takes about 45 minutes and you can make a big batch that can be refrigerated and would last the most part of a week.

Yeah, while it isn't super important, it's one of them.
But yeah, paying bills is probably the most important. Cause if I'm late paying them then no internet, water, phone, heat, etc etc Any tips on running a house? I'm only 17. I'm a bit lost

![]() One piece of advice from a fellow lazy person: clean things up as soon as possible. Wash the dishes right after you eat, if you spill something clean it up straight away etc. The longer you leave it, the more effort it gets. |

I just wiki'd supper, apparently it refers to the main meal of the day in some parts of Canada. Which meal are we talking about?

It is kind of. ![]() A few years after moving to Canada from Zimbabwe, we'd have cereal for dinner some days. Once I got to about grade 5, we stopped doing that because we were finally starting to get into Canadian traditions and customs haha. We still eat at 7 or 8, which is so damn late here. Most people in my area have dinner at 5 or 6. EDIT: Supper is dinner, man.

Right, that explains everything. Supper over here is the last little snack before you go to bed.

Although not the cheapest solution you could get a wife. That would take care of both your problems. Just be sure she can cook and is anxious to please.
That was just a joke to try to cheer the guy up ladies, so get over it already. As for suppers you could get a crock pot and make all kinds of stuff that are easy to prepare that there are plentiful recipes for that are cheap to buy for. I have a killer chili recipe if you want it. It should do for two or three suppers easy. Casseroles are also easy to fix, difficult to screw up and are usually good for more than a single meal. Buy lots of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup and Lipton's dry onion soup mix. To that base you can add tuna and noodles or pork chops, potatoes and onions and all sorts of other stuff. This kind of stuff won't kill your budget either. As for getting up and cleaning up you're on your own there. You'll have to develop that motivation on your own. I suppose after you've already turned all your underwear inside out to wear again you'll eventually either do some laundry or go the store to buy new. You'll find a little laundry detergent is much cheaper. I hope your mom has a speedy recovery. Till then, just look at this as a good growing experience and a challenge that will be good for you in the long run and will help prepare you for life as it really is. |

Yes you can. Sure you can live in filth but you'll have to clean it up eventually and it's going to be a lot more painful then if you don't start doing something about it now. I'm a complete slob but I try to clean up once a week so the mess doesn't accumulate and I know that bugs haven't made a home under my bed. You don't have to make everything super neat and tidy but be hygienic at the very least, like do your dishes properly and vacuum once in a while and take care of your pets. reminder: the less often you clean up, THE MORE IT HURTS WHEN YOU FINALLY DO IT |
