Hot punk progressions
After hearing the second half of PDA's song Interpol and the progression used in Sonic Youth's Teenage Riot I fell in love with the genre... basically looking for more songs like these, even harder punk fits the bill when it comes to songs like these (in my opinion)

The more I see "Sonic Youth" and "Punk" mentioned together, the less it makes sense to me.

Not sure what the question really is, but you'd probably dig post punk.
Listen to Wire, Gang of Four, the Minutemen, Television, and X. They've all got some nice riffs.
