well i didn't get it so i could play death metal or anything like that. i like distortion as much as the next guy though. i play a lot of 70s and early 80s hard rock and metal. figure this amp will get me some prime judas priest tones as well as stuff like BOC or frank marino. keep in mind that i use strats with single coils for the most part so a little extra umph comes in handy sometimes.

thanx and i agree. one of the best things about peavey is that there older tube amps don't seem to sell for much despite being decent to great sound wise. i couldn't believe howcheap it was especially since it is a US made amp and was in great shape. of course when i tried to turn it on it didn't work but GC had it fixed and gone over by the best amp tech in town (probably in NY state). they said it worked fine when they got it in but who knows. there are deals to be had as long as you don't get hung up on brand names and have to have the latest. my GC recently had a nice carvin tube amp that they were selling really cheap (sold in less than a week).
