True story, but I never really knew what skate punk was. I could tell I'd hate it based on the name though, and sort of figured it'd sound like NOFX sounds.

I dislike skate punk because all skate punk songs seem to have that really annoying double time drum beat that has no variation and doesn't really mesh with the song at all.

i don't get why '90s-double-time-drums skatepunk is called skatepunk, because it seems more fratty than skatey.

bands like JFA, The Faction, and Government Detox are keut, though. nardcore sux on the other hand.

I don't particularly mind the gratuitous double time.

now i'm sorta having this weird nostalgia for when myspace was a thing, though. also deathcore, which of course i never was interested in. weird how some people i know's myspace profiles still exist, it's like these ppl are stranded in time. kinda wanna start using myspace, because it is like a ghost town, so free. but of course there must be more than one person for it to be a ghost town, otherwise it's 'deserted.' anybody want to join myspace w/ me? if not i think i am going to anyway.

I always chuckle when I see shitty old Alberta bands mentioned in places like this. Like when people talk about chixdigged or SNFU. It just seems strange.

I don't miss skate punk. I do miss street punk though. I had this animosity towards it when it was popular but now that it's gone I find it much more charming.

Nah, I do like early AFI though if you'd consider them skate punk. Still not as good as their Black Sails-Sing the Sorrow era though.

Sometimes I start to kinda like a band, but they sound way too skatey for me to actually like. I don't mean like skate punky (because I still only have a vague idea what it sounds like), but like take None More Black for example, they sound too skateboardy which is a shame because I almost like them. Also their name sounds like some terrible modern rock band or something.


This is another band whose name sounds like terrible modern rock or maybe All Time Low type pop rock or something. Who thinks these names are good ideas.

Seriously? Look, if you don't like the band name that's fine, it's obviously not for you. But don't go around assuming their music sounds terrible just because of it as if you'd know that. That's a pretty immature assumption to make.
