Yeah this is true. I feel the exact skeleton vest joke is sorely overlooked. It's not even on Youtube. Also "you can't dust for vomit".

Emo's still a thing? I thought dissapeared completely a few years ago and its erstwhile enthusiasts all got into indie or dubstep or something. Maybe it still exists in isolated pockets throughout smalltown america though. Who knows. |

well i'm talking about the cap'n jazz derived bands that seem to be popping up, who don't have anything to do with 2006-hot-topic-emo (or so they pretend). |

Oh gotcha. I've been calling that stuff "Jawbreakercore" because I thought it was mainly meant to sound like jawbreaker. There's a bunch of bands like that around here nowadays.

I ****ing love double time. I do understand the complaint that it all gets abit samey, but i personally never get bored. Think there's abit of confusion going on in here alot of stuff mentioned that isn't skatepunk. Some of my favourites are: A Wilhelm Scream Pulley Strung Out Lagwagon Belvedere Much the Same Propagandhi Lipona Straighten Things Out The Swellers Fair Do's The Human Project Bigwig Satanic Surfers Straight Away Forus Mute Counterpunch X-State Ride Jet Market Implants Laughing in the Face of Almeida

To be fair, it's not really all double time stuff, there's just a specific way of doing it that's just bleh. Like Traffic Street by Rivethead is awesome but then NoFX does it and it's...not great. Though it might just be something else about skate punk but I dunno. I'm just gonna say WOO RIVETHEAD!

When I think of skate punk three bands come into mind JFA, Suicidal Tendencies, and Tales of Terror. I also sprained my ankle while skating to The Adolescents once!

those are really rad, thanks for posting ![]() also, seeing as how the topic is on skate punk, am i the only one who thinks bands like nofx would be bearable without a vocalist? i really really hate that early/mid 90's so-cal punk voice that all those bands seem to have

Is this even a real genre? I don't really care about genre tagging. I think I like whatever this is, the THPS soundtracks are cool.

I think it's a real genre, maybe a grey area but there is a certain list of bands that were embraced in the skateboarding culture. Many that could just simply be called punk rock i guess but I don't know Skate punk seems to have it's own thing. And yeah I dont know about all the thps but the first 2 definitely had a solid soundtrack.

most of the fun is in the soundtracks (which is saying something cause the games are awesome) but i wouldn't call a lot of the music in those games "skate" punk simply cause you're skating to it
