i live in southwest va and it's a kooky place. worked as a busboy during sunday brunch at this local restaurant and the crowd consisted of rich parents taking their hungover college kids out, older town liberals, cocky alumni, the town's young (weird) 'it' scene, grad students, a few good professors, some bad professors, sorority girls in their sunday best, and a few old men. there's something darkly funny about the exchange of asking for cream. food service could be fun if it didn't breed resentment. it's a competitive sport. it's a consumer template.
