problem with the left hand
Hi,
I'm Beso. I've been playin guitar (both electric and acoustic) for more than 16 years, buty I have a problem with my left hand. The thing is that when I cut my nails and start playing, I feel pain under the nails. This lasts for 4-5 days and then it's ok, but the worse thing about this is that in that moments I can't play even 40% of what I can realy do. That's annoying Why can it be? Maybe somebody have the same problem? Thanks, Beso. |

It sounds to me like you are cutting your nails too short.

Not too short really. As I see, this problem begins after bending the strings, even a few bendings on G and B strings are enough.

Pain is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong. And since you say the problem is only after you cut your nails, that's the only variable in the situation. Even if your nails don't look too short, they probably are. Take a day or 2 off and let them grow back a bit. And next time, don't trim them so much. If your fingers still hurt after a couple days, go see a doctor.
