White guilt movies
 Any of you guys ever seen this movie "Pride"? I rented it recently. It's about the first all black swim team, and the difficulties that had to go through being the first all black swim team. I dunno guys... I mean, let me ask you a question: how many of these white people are evil movies are they gonna make? It's like, it's all the way down to swimming now... I'm frankly starting to run out of white guilt. I mean it was fine back like 20-25 years ago. You know, those movies, they started off with movies like Roots, when white guilt was at an all time high, and I could barely even watch that shit... I was like "Jesus I got it, my ancestors are evil, okay? please turn the channel, jesus... they still hittin' em? ****, turn the channel! This on all week?! ****, turn the channel!" Then in the 80s there was like a football movie, then Cuba Gooding Jr did one where he wanted to be a scubadiver or some shit, and there's been countless others.. And now, it's allll the way down to swimming, and I gotta admit, I don't think I give a fuck. Anyway, discuss. |

So? It's a movie. They have to take social ideas and dynamics and make it accessible to a lot of people. Summing things up within an antagonist is one way of doing that. These movies aren't about whites anyway. They're about blacks overcoming adversity. Which happens to be racist white people and the system they have in place.

There are black swim teams? Why would you make that movie? I get football and basketball, because black people are actually good at those. Swimming is still a white people sport, just look at the olympics. A bunch of country club boys and like one asian dude. It can't be a movie about them succeeding, because there aren't successful black swimmers.
