Pretty clearly, Norwegian Wood is his best bass work. It's such a simple riff but it sounds so good.
That also happens to be the only Beatles song I really enjoy listening to.

Macca plays what is required from a bassist in the type/genre of music he plays.
To do anymore would take him away from the situation he works in. John Entwistle (Who) would have been totaly out of place in the Beatles/Wings.
