You know the Great Red Spot, the storm that has raged on the surface of Jupiter for at least a couple hundred years now? You can fit 2 or 3 Earth's inside of that.

Sandy ain't shit.

And then there's black holes, compressing matter into almost nothing

yeah, we have a small sun compared to others. but thats just how things are. life can only exist successfully small. like, earth sized life is about as big as it gets. or at least got, dinosaurs. so, of course everything else seems big. theres a lot of matter in the universe. its got to be big. its infinitely big.

dark holes are just tiny. compress all that useless open air out of objects and you are left with tiny shit. but hat happens after a black hole has sucked up so much matter that the core got big, like so big that gravity stopped things from sticking to it. layers get sloly less compressed untill you get an outer layer that flakes. so much matter in one spot that it actually speeds up time lol

i wish we could travel into the far future. a point in time where we are aware of all the friendly and not so friendly life that has been living next to us all this time. so much life that if you said i bet we are the only life out here would make you look like an idiot. come on, there is so much space out there. its impossible for life to not exist. what kind of species are we to say were that special? hmm... maybe a species that thinks it has its own god and we are gods first priority. that god made trillions of light years worth of space just to make one tiny ass planet with some monkeys on it. we arent that hard to make. life has reformed on earth after many armageddons. if that can happen, then life on at least one other planet is very likely. so ****ing likely i w0uld say life exists outside the earth

That is true, and I know but it can really get me that the sun is around a million times the size and general mass of earth, and the light from it takes, god knows how many hours to get here(?) and thats all in comparision with other stars, and how many galaxies there are even in the milky way.

All I know about black holes is that they will compress matter into a "squashed" like form and that there is, I think I've read, a white hole and reverse side to one

Mind = fucked

It actually only takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds for sunlight to reach the earth.

I agree though, the cosmic scale is mind boggling. Think of the Pillars of Creation, for example. Scientists believe they were destroyed over 4000 years ago, but we can still see them because of the massive distance between us and where they were.

edit: Read up on the Pillars again, and they were destroyed 6000 years ago. It takes 7000 years for the light to travel here from there, so we will only be able to view them for no more than 1000 more years.

This doesn't make me feel small tbh. Maybe if there was actually stuff out there. Earth feels like an oasis in the middle of a vast desert.

Upon reading that, I thought I mixed it all up with Solar Flares and their X-rays, turns out according to google I don't know much at all

the best thing is that even the biggest star shown in that video likely is still tiny compared to the endless space around it.

I think I'd have a heart attack if they showed this starting with a nucleus and ending with the distances between stars.

Anybody else notice that when you zoom out all the way it looks like water reflecting off a pond?

Just looking at stuff like this convinces me that we are DEFINITELY not alone in the galaxy. To me it seems completely ignorant to think that there's not intelligent life outside of our own planet. It's all so fascinating.

Space is big. Really, really big. You might think that its a long way to the pharmacist down the road, but that's just peanuts to space.
