Buying a new guitar for heavier stuff.

What's up?

I'm looking forward to buy a new guitar for heavier stuff so help me choose before black friday because i'm hoping to find good deals from MusiciansFriend, but unfortunately i can't buy used cus i don't live in USA so i won't be able to try it first.

My budget max is $700.

I'd like to buy an guitar to play Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Joe Satriani, AC/DC, GnR...

Preferences? Right handed, 6 strings, Rosewood fretboard and maybe Floyd Rose (thinking about the future)

Pickups? - humbuckers

Color? - Blue if possible

New or Used? - New

Location? - MusiciansFriend

Current Gear? - Eletric Guitar only the Yamaha 112V.

I'm totally in love with blue Schecters, they are very beautiful from the pictures and i even dreamed of playing one of those blue Schecters a couple of times but that doesn't mean i will buy one. I want to find the best bang for the buck for this price range but of course, blue color would be awesome.

Current list:
Schecter C-1 Custom (See-Thru Blue)
Schecter Blackjack SLS C-1 (See-Thru Blue Burst)
Schecter Damien Elite (Dark Metallic Blue)
Ibanez S570MQM (Bright Blue Burst)
ESP MH-1000NT (See-Thru Blue)

Thanks

Regards,
Queiroz

ESP MH-1000 caught my attention and with a good discount coupon from MF it will be on my budget. I will add the ESP to my list.

Gibson Explorer is also great but way over my budget.

These things are great. It's a little more purple than blue, but still cool. And the ZR Trem is one of the best around.

+1

Although the MH-1000 is nothing to wag a finger at, they have good trems as well.

Also, for general advice, if you're *not* going to get a guitar with a trem, it'd be better to get a cheaper guitar and put more funds into your amp fund. All the guitar has to do is be comfortable - your amp is doing all of the work when it comes to sound.

That said if you do definitely want a trem, don't cheap out on the guitar - cheap trems are made out of cheap metal and eventually wear out, meaning it will be useless unless you totally block it (turning your guitar into a hardtail).

Ibanez S570MQM added to the list

I can buy it for less than 600$ from MF and with shipping fees, seller comission etc.. it will cost around $800 for me and believe me the best deal found here in Brazil for this model is $1600USD and the ESP MH-1000NT around $1850USD.

Ibanez S570MQM removed from the list

I don't want Maple fretboard (it's personal nothing wrong with the guitar)

ESP LTD MH-1000NT is winning for now. I think it's best suited for my needs

LTD is not ESP mainstream correct? Still good enough?

What about Gibson Les Paul ? Which one should be good for me? I think i can make some sacrifices to improve my budget to $900usd and with a good discount from BF, Christmas and New Year deals. I can find a great deal for less than $900.

EMG active pickups will need 9v batteries, right? Any will do or i must choose some good quality batteries? Which ones? Any extra info about this will be really appreciated.

I can make a sacrifice to buy this beauty but i need to know if it's the right choice.

There is an S570 with rosewood fretboard and blue burst:

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/S570DXQMBBB/

However, if you want the best guitar for your price range you should definitely look at an Ibanez rg920. It has a more blue finish for one thing, plus it comes with pickups that are more than enough for what you want to play. Trust me I own one and they are great! Now if you want to play in drop tunings do not get one with a trem....get a hard tail schecter and stick emgs in it if it doesn't already have them.

You most likely don't want active pickups. The only band that plays with active pickups (of which you mentioned) is Metallica and even they don't use actives all the time (not sure about Megadeth).

I think a Les Paul would suit well that kind of music (OK, it suits almost everything well).
