when i reflect on '90s dads
i have to think of mine.
you see, he was much older than me—
sometimes i wondered why.
when i'd begin to question it
he'd always change the subject.
he'd chock it up to healthcare,
or something about the budget.
so i began to press him further
and what i found disturbed
me even further than i could
for a long time put into words:
he left me in the dungeon,
the second level, with the goombas.
