Fun "must have" effects/"toys" for a guitarist to have?
I really don't have any effect pedals or any doo-dads so to speak and wanted to treat myself to some for xmas this year.
Any suggestions on what types of things or effect pedals I should pick up? Best value for buck?

What do you like?
Maybe get a multifx to get your head around what effects you like and dont.

Have you got a max budget?
Some things to look at; Phaser- Subdecay Baby Quasar, MXR Phase 90. Flanger - Boss HF2, EHX Electric Mistress. Harmony - Boss PS6, Eventide Pitchfactor. Wah - get a stock GCB95 and have it or mod it yourself. Chorus - Boss CE2.

I use these:
-Flanger -Octaver -Delay -Chorus -Wah But it really depends on what you're trying to do. I think the most common fx are delay and wah. |

If you really don't use fx for jamming/practice/gigs but want some to screw around with, a multifx is the way to go. Otherwise, you should get a Pog. I tried a Pog for the first time today and got along quite well with it, I want one so you might too.

quite a few can be found here including the high end. they have clips/videos for most of them. they can get pricey, but depending what you want you may want to throw out a few hundred.

Among other things, the wah pedal lets you play porno music, so there's that.

What kind of music are you into?
I'd say get a wah, but not one of the new Crybaby pedals. I own 4 different wah pedals and it's easily my least favorite. If you're going to go that route, I'd definitely recommend a Vox over the Crybaby.

1. Buy a cheap used multieffect pedal (cheap Zoom or Digitech would be good, even a behringer FX600 would do the job)
2. Try all the effects, mess with the parameters, decide which effects you like and which ones you don't. 3. Sell the multi for the same price you paid for it 4. Go buy decent ones of the effects you liked (or a good multi if you like multieffects) |

I have more fun with my Wah pedal than anything else. I wish more (affordable) effects pedals existed.

wah
drive tuner delay I'd take a flanger over phaser/chorus cuz with experience you can sorta make it sound like all three and of course a reverb |
