Something by Iron Maiden, probably Blood Brothers which I learned all the leads from apart from the solos which I played the rhythm.

Why would you try to learn Randy Rhoads/Kirk Hammett as your first song..? Am I the only one that learned songs with basic chords before attempting to mimic famous metal guitarists?

I wouldn't worry about it mate, if you made these your first songs they would most likely be horrible covers at best. This thread appears to be a penis length contest more than the truth.

I started playing just under a year ago, and all I can really play is:
Tool - Stinkfist
Mastodon - Ole' Nessie
Tool - Schism

I can play parts of other songs, but not really all the way through in real time. I am still trying to learn the 1st solo on Iron Man so I can play through the whole thing. I tend to just play parts of songs randomly for fun since it takes ages for me to get up to full speed on a song.

Anthrax - mad house is the first song on guitar I could fully play. It is pretty easy.

Agreed

Although, FYI.... the first one I learned was Bohemian Raphsody with a clever bridge into Stairway To Heaven.... so my first song is bigger than anyone elses.... and therefore I appear better in everyones eyes....
