Help valuing guitar for sale.... Paisley Strat..
Hi,
Not too sure whether I have posted this in the correct section but I'm looking for some advice on valuing my guitar as I will be looking to sell it in the near future. I'm finding it hard to find anything to compare it too as a guide for what its current value is.... so any advice will be much appreciated. Its a 1980's made in Japan Pink Paisley Stratocastor, its in good condition with a bit of fret wear that can be seen in the picture but still plays and sounds amazing! Book values to give you a starting point:
98% Mint - $1150 95% Excellent Plus - $925 90% Excellent - $750 80% Very Good Plus - $575 70% Very Good - $450 60% Good - $375 I can not give you a value since the picture doesn't show the condition, but what looks like wear on the fretboard alone would make it lower than 80% grade, probably 70%. The year of the guitar makes no difference in its value. Last new MSRP in 1994 was $820.

You could easily get $900+ for that guitar. The 2002-2004 Reissues (like the one I own) sell for $750 regularly on ebay. The 80's CIJ reissues are more valuable since they're closer to the original paisley.

i would agree with $900, but i wouldn't expect to get more. maybe list at $950 OBO and take no less than $875 or something.
 the key to getting either a good deal buying or getting top dollar selling is time. i bought an 1982 Kalamazoo gibson sonex for $150ish with some fretware (need to work on two frets), the guy needed to pay a bill later that day so he sold cheap. if he had more time he could have easily gotten double. but if you don't need to sell it soon you will likely get a higher price. so be patient and maybe get ~$900, or if you need the cash soon you will need to price it accordingly.
