Share your worst live playing experience
I haven't played a huge amount of gigs so the worse thing that has happened to me is when we finished playing, there was a few claps here and there and I felt like this:
![]() So whats yours? Also if your friends have had any, share those too!

I thought you meant Xbox Live. I was prepared to tell you of Halo failings.
But I have never gigged. My input stops there.

One guitarist went out of time, the other snapped 3 strings, the drummer somehow broke his drumstick even though he barely hits the drums hard. I sometimes think I was the only one in that band who wasn't mentally ******ed.

This again. I'm still not sharing that video.
We actually had a good applause and there were some people singing to the cover we played but that's because they have bad taste. >_> |

First time I played in front of people was a church thing for the old people in town. We played Amazing Grace. I could not get my guitar tuned right and when we started using the piano there it was also out of tune. The instruments sounded like total garbage and since I'd only been playing a few months my playing was shoddy at best. Luckily, the girls singing helped save us some but it still sucked. The old folks were happy with it though. I felt just awful about the whole deal though. I wasn't ready and it showed. Never since then have I trusted my ears to tune at a live event and I have never played anything live that I wasn't 100% confident in since then.

About a week ago I played "Where We Would" Be by Porcupine Tree acoustically for an open mic night thing, and had a complete brain fart during the outro. I momentarily forgot the chords I needed to play, but I tried to smooth things over by interacting with the audience ("Whoops. Sorry guys; give me a moment here..."). All in all, it wasn't that terrible. I'm just bummed that I made a silly mistake at the very end of a song.

Nobody is ever going to see it. ![]() Edit: As a precautionary measure, I have a question for whoever wants to answer it. What's the proper response if nobody shows up to your performance? Last edited by slipknot5678 : 11-25-2012 at 09:45 PM. |

>get booked at a bar that has banned us from playing
>play under different name >get too smashed before we go on >get into bar fight with tweaker skinhead >gash wrist on a broken bottle >he gets kicked out >i have to play bleeding everywhere >we make up songs, play covers we dont know on the spot, do a 12 minute version of "starshine" by gorillaz, and generally piss everyone off (were a punk band by the way, so slow music isnt that great) >another band drops out >we play 2 sets harassing everyone >pass out for a minute >get booed >start more fights we got banned again from entering the premises and the didnt pay us... and heres my battle scar ![]()

Me and my high-school band were covering Rope by the Foo fighters infront of my school and i had to do the "CHOKE!" screamish part. So, i made sure i didn't sound high-pitched like i did when we rehearsed it so during the actual performance, i tried, but i sounded like scooby-doo or some dog through the mic. Total fail. But it was freakin hilarious looking back at it! XD Oh and also, we forgot to do a quick sound check, so my guitar was unheard, then our vocalist was way to loud.

First gig, first real band, when we played with the shittiest, most ghetto PA system in existence. Heard nothing but rattling from my monitor and could barely hear myself or anyone else in the band aside from the drummer. And I wasn't even the singer yet at the time. Can't imagine how that would have played out.
Seriously, all those idiots who say "you don't need that big of an amp to gig, you can always mic it up" I just want to beat upside their heads.

Like, fucking all of them. I can never seem to find a group of musicians that *work* well together. Alone, they're great. In a band, we blow.
This is why when I'm going to have time to do gigs next (i.e. after school ends), I'm going to do gigs on my own.
