That said, I've thought of all this stuff. I've also had experience with working within the limitations you have. |

Not sure I follow the logic here. I'm typically what you'd consider a lead guitarist, not playing chords unless the song calls for it. And I'm far from god-status lol.

Something I've noticed that's similar to this is that most of the decent musicians are either uninterested in music so they fade in the background, poor as shit and can't pay for decent equipment, or too busy with other things in life to commit to music. Now, as for the musicians who are ready and eager to get in bands and do a bunch of stuff, they generally seem to suck a lot or they're condescending assholes. It's a pretty sad. ![]() Quote:
How long are you people going to bitch about this? It was funny the first time you did it almost a year ago, but now it's just something people do to be jackasses.

tfw you've practiced an arrangement of one of Bach's harpsichord concerti, go to play it along with a recording, realize it's in Baroque tuning (like A 415), you sound like shit.

No, but really...who takes people seriously who dress/act like an anthropomorphic character? We're not in Japan, where that shit's cool apparently. But seriously, I'm sure you have a lot of gig experience. I've had some too. But my gig experience also included things like getting the best sound out of the cheapass equipment whoever had. Right now, I don't really have time for gigs, so I don't have any reason to own a large, gig-worthy amp. Quote:
It's also something people do when Ian's condescending, which is often. I usually do it in a more friendly/teasing manner than most. OT: Tfw other musicians try to compare dick sizes!

Especially with singers. I learned really quick that anyone who claims they're a great singer/harsh vocalist 9 times out of 10 isn't, and in fact suck. Which is why I just decided to give up that search take over vocal duties for my band. I'll admit I'm not the greatest singer ever (although people tell me I am, morons ), but I can easily say I'm better than almost all of these guys with their big "vocalist" egos.Quote:

In other words, they don't even use proper technique. I think all but one of them were purely throat singers. EDIT: Also your quote is mis-contexting. I wasn't referring to all singers, I was referring to morons who think they are singers, but aren't, and just want to assume a position in a band for bragging rights.

I remember when I first got audacity and attempted to record. I actually thought I could use a Schecter 7-string as a bass instead of a real bass. That's probably the dumbest thing I've ever thought in the realm of music. ;-;

There was a guy who claimed he was a bass player and wanted to audition for the empty space. He showed up with a First Act acoustic guitar tuned down an octave (not even correctly) with a Phillips karaoke microphone taped to the side of it. I'm not exaggerating. He didn't make the part, as you could imagine.

I never tried that, but I had a friend for awhile who owned a bass and acoustic guitar. He was much better at guitar than bass, but he didn't actually own an electric. He just played his acoustic like an electric and actually had fairly good technique. Anyway, I ended up as the de facto "bass player" (and singer), using his bass, despite the fact that I was probably the better guitar player. I didn't mind; it just really sucked not having bass player who wasn't ALSO a guitar player. Now...being solo, I'll basically have to either A) learn how to manipulate audacity to make bass sound decent OR B) actually learn how to play bass well, so I can play the semi-complex basslines I wrote for my songs. In order to do B), I'd have to buy a bass, and I'm broke... ![]() |
