Slipknot's the line I draw for a good modern metal band. If they're more metal than Slipknot, they're good. If they have more hardcore/screamo/hip-hop/nu-metal than Slipknot has, they suck. A7X fall below Slipknot.

Personally, I just don't like how 1) they all have ridiculous stage names; 2) their music all sounds overproduced and is NOT really that talented, compared to what I usually listen to; and 3) their fans are annoying emo shits who think AX7 is so HARDCORE! Most kids like that wouldn't know hardcore if it made their ears bleed.

Also, I have listened to quite a bit of their music. It was ok, as far as popular music goes. However, it got boring fast. For some damn reason, I actually bought their latest album, and it's...pretty much the worst album I own.

Slipknot has alot more nu metal/hardcore/ hip-hop shit than Avenged Sevenfold imo.

This thread is pathetic, the main problem with them is their fanbase.

You get the faggy emo/scene kids who've never listened to a metal band then discover avenged sevenfold and shout about it like they've listened to them forever and it puts normal people off their music.
And they know their fanbase and so they now write awful "mainstream" metal bollocks which appeals to lots of those fag fans.
Basically city of evil was a good album and then they gained popularity and began to write rubbish for their awful fanbase and that's why there's so much hate.

But the talent comment is stupid.

Sure they may not be as talented as musicians YOU listen to, but you cannot deny they are talented. I fail to see how the talent comment is a valid point.

Same. I started listening to them when I was 12 and I still enjoy them now and I'm almost 19. I used to really like them but now, they're good. I'm not crazy about them but I do enjoy their music.

Everyone has different preferences so..

it's because of the fanbase that people don't want to be associated with. whether or not anyone is talented isn't a concern of mine, it's simply if i like the sound, and i personally, i like the sound of a bit of A7X.
