Edge II problem
Hello,
I recently purchased an Ibanez 320fm, which comes with an Edge II. I clean it up and set up the guitar but when it came to fine tune the D string the fine tuner didn't do anything till I got about halfway down. Then the tuning of the string dropped 5 semitones. I'm a little confused as to what could cause the fine tuner to not function? Does it have anything to do with the little red plastic curved pieces on the bottom of the trem? I can post a video if that will helpl. |

I believe you have an Edge Pro II, which is a trem that I'm not familiar with. Those red plastic things hold the ball end of the string, so you don't need to cut the ball off. They shouldn't affect your fine tuners. My advice is to take the trem off of the guitar and check it out. There may be damages fo some sort, or debris. If you take it apart, you run the risk stripping out scres and inserts, so do that with caution if you decide to take that route.

I'm fully capable of taking the thing apart.
I just can't find any reason why the fine tuner would make the string loose to such an extreme degree. |

I wasn't implying that you aren't, I'm implying that cheap trems have a tendency to strip out, regardless of you mechanical abilities, so beware. |
