Need to replace my audio interface
I play with a H&K Tubemeister 5 without a cabinet (Redbox XLR or 1/4 simulated output).
I was using a Line 6 GX as the audio interface, it was working very well with my computer and the amplifier, but the headphone jack just failed on me. I need a USB audio interface (or mixer, I don't know much at all about them). I need it to be my PC audio interface, it needs to have 1 1/4 input (from the amplifier) and a headphone output. Since I just bought a 2300$ 2012 Les Paul and the amplifier, my budget is around 100$. Bad timing Any suggestions? Will I get a horrible sound with a cheap mixer as compared to the line 6 GX? |

Do you at least play it with some form of load on it?

The amp, you say you play it with no speakers on the output, do you have a loadbox or anything on it?

Yeah, it's designed to do so! It has the redbox from H&K and a power soak into the amplifier. It's a 100% supporter functionality from H&K. Oh ok, I thought you were running with nothing attached to your output. On a more on-topic note, somebody posted a thread looking for an interface on a budget very similar to yours, might be worth a look.

This said, I need a no latency audio interface (USB) to record and play with the amplifier, for under 100$.
The Line 6 was working perfectly but since it broke within a year, I'm a bit reluctant to buying another one. I also don't need the pod farm software a second time so I feel like I'm not getting gear worth the money. Any suggestions? Last edited by TubeBlues : 11-24-2012 at 03:53 PM. |

here is a wealth of knowledge

if you want zero latency, then you will need something for direct monitoring (gives you output before it gets sent to the computer). most interfaces use some kinda software to control all the routing of signals.
