Whats up UG I have been slacking posting this. I got this DSL the end of August for $500 from a friend. it has a small abrasion on the front of the amp, but it works perfectly (although I don't think the reverb works either, but I don't use it)

The cleans are not too bad, but are very bass heavy. The classic crunch is awesome and will get pretty nasty with a boost. The ultra ch can get pretty heavy and add a boost and it screams.

I use it with my Krank Rev 4x12 and it is a huge wall of sound (I like the V12 better than the V30's with this amp)

I got =C= EL34's in the power section and it has 2 NOS mullard ecc83, Telefunkin ecc83 and a JAN-GE 5751.

and it came with those in it (well except the 5751, that was one I bought from the tube depot.

I cant belive what those Mullard and Telefunkins are worth if you buy them NOS
Seems that the tubes alone were worth the price of the amp.

Never been a huge DSL fan, but this one is pretty damn kick-ass

Nice selection of tubes there.
Now crank that sucka. If the windows aren't trying to jump out of the frames you're doing it wrong.

Yeah Last nite my band opened up for Authority Zero and Fayuca and I got complements from both bands on my tone.

If they are good enough for Gary Moore they are good enough for anybody.

Next up on the table for the DSL is to have it modded so the clean and classic are foot switchable also. So it will end up being a quasi-3ch amp then.

You need one of Craig's relay boards. Give him a hoy, I'm sure he'd sell you one. Will save you a buttload of work. It will still be a pita to do though because there's not a lot of room in there.

Yeah I have talked with him before about possible mods. I'll end up letting my brother-in-law do the work. He builds custom amps and is great with PCB's, I don't like messing with PCB's too easy to screw things up

Iirc there are three circuit boards in there taking up every square mm of space. It may be worth using a chassis mount relay, they do exist.

HNAD! Love DSLs. It sucks the reverb doesnt work. I was actually impressed with my DSLs reverb. I didnt expect it to be half decent. But theyre pretty solid amps.

And update us on that Clean to Classic footswitchable mod. I am very interested in that.

50 or 100?

an old room mate had a 50 and tehy get a bad wrap....they really are great marshalls. as good a the new 2000-4000 bucks models. no.

but you can snatch these up for like 600 on average if you try and they definitely give that marhsall hi gain tone.

if you cant play metal out of these things, your perception of good tone or music is probably lacking. roomie played death / sludge metal dropped tuned and it had plenty on tap.

only gripes - not that versatile (ranges of gain tones tones yes, changes of character not really) , its a full size head, i.e. - hard to manage at times , and yeah its a 500 watt marshall monster. not really a bed room amp at all.

when played through a marshall 4x12, even on a low setting the bottom end carried through the apartment. might as well been playing drums.....

The V12s do work better for some amps than others IMO. Although I recall that the V12s sounded pretty crappy with my MkV's channel 2.
