+1 i love my timmy (toyroom) also one of my favorite OD'as that gets overlooked a lot is the MI Audio Blues Pro kind of similar to a tube screamer, but more gain and i prefer it over my BBE green screamer in most every application. i also have a zendrive (toyroom) which i like a lot as well i don't ever recommend an OCD, i do own one, but they are fussy and don't get along good with quite a few amps. although it does have a lot of gain. as far as the Fulldrive goes i like it, and the boost is nice, but i wish you could use the boost without the OD engaged. little less gain than most IIRC but that is solved with the boost. if you are looking for a tubescreamer i would get a way huge green rhino, very tweakable and does it good.

Timmy or OD11. The OD11 is available for $99 from PGS, 15% off tomorrow once the Cyber Monday sale starts and is a readily available clone of the Timmy with a few tweaks. Normally, I'd say **** Lovepedal, but for the price, I'm willing to throw aside principles.

No. They're exactly the same. Or as close as any two pedals with the same circuit can be with part tolerances. Quote:
The LGW barely resembles a Tubescreamer. It's got the same basic topology but includes an extra feedback path and a much more useful tone control along with some pretty heavy frequency response tweaks. Was basically Bjorn trying to make a Tubescreamer sound good as a stand alone OD and he had to do a lot to it to make it sound like he wanted. The VFE is built pretty nicely and, IIRC, has some extra frequency shaping abilities. So it might be worth more if you think you'll use them. True bypass if that's a biggie to you, though I say don't worry about it. |

Timmy absolutely. Great characteristic tone and great as a booster or stand-alone overdrive.

I can get vouch for the Bad Monkey. It's such a a sick overdrive and the tone adjustments make it super versatile. Not true bypass though

There's a 3 month wait if you want one new. You'd have to go used (and pay ~$160, they go for $130 new) or go for that $99 Lovepedal clone I linked to. |

Well, it's just a little bit over my budget, so i could go for it if it's really worth it. Quote:
If i'm to settle on the Timmy, i can handle the waiting period, especially since they're cheaper new than used. I'm assuming you're all talking about this Toy Room FX? I can't find any information or pictures about that Timmy you speak of...

Oh, ok. So i'm assuming Tim @ Toy Room FX even lets you choose the enclosure colors, knob shapes, etc. on your Timmy clone? That would be awesome. Do i have to contact him through the website's contact form to ask him for a quote on the final price (Timmy clone + custom enclosure colors + shipping)?

The Timmy was by far the most boring pedl i have ever heard. maybe it just did't work with the amp i heard it on but i thought it was meh.
although i do tend to like my pedals when they change the actual sound when you turn them on. the whole TGP 'i want my pedal to be transparent' is lost on me. i spend my money so my guitar sounds different.......

Transparent od/boosts are for when you like your amp and just want to give it a push.

The BBE Green Screamer does a nice job. Sounds like a tube Screamer to me.

This is what the volume knob on the front of my amp does. although i like my LOVE my SHO, i wouldn't call it transparent by any means. You can definately tell it is on. You should build one with a master volume and give it a go. Brilliant pedal. Getting some grit out of it with your 18Wer would sound awesome.

Today i got really confused.
I went to a couple of stores with my own equipment and tried all the overdrive pedals i could get my hands on, and to my surprise i kept going back to the Boss OD-3 that was sitting on my pedalboard. Ibanez/Maxon TubeScreamers, Fulltone OCD, BBE Green Screamer, Digitech Bad Monkey, T-Rex Tonebug Overdrive, Marshall BluesBreaker 2, VOX ICE9... None of them sounded as pleasant to me as my old OD-3. Is this weird? Am i so used to my OD-3 that my ears trick me into believing that it sounds better than the other pedals? ![]()

next time bring your current pedal so you can A?B them. as long as you sign it in they would be fine with it. odds are that the amps are different and the whole package (guitar, pedal, amp) and it sounds differently because its not your setup. if you think your boss is all you need, maybe you don't need to go OD shopping yet. i have played every OD GC has had in for the last year or two, i have played a lot of them and IMO a maxon OD808 most other OD pedals (i really love my BBE Green Screamer), they are better than what you have, but if you are satisfied, get something when you think you need it.
