Im not a fan of the new CD. I loved the 3 song EP though. Dunno whats up. I think each one of their releases attracts different types of metal peeps - I dont know anyone that loves their entire catalog. |

I really haven't listened to anything new this year. Evoken's new album was pretty cool and Ahab's wasn't bad. The new Drudkh was decent as well. There are still a ton I need to get to though. And for non-metal stuff, I liked new Dead Can Dance, Shawn Lee, and Trampled by Turtles.
I didn't finish my EP though, which is kind of disappointing. I did decide to release the two tracks I have recorded as a split, but they sound pretty mediocre. Quote:
Yup, false confirmed.

Best of 2012? For me, The whole "This is the Six" album by Sheffield band While She Sleeps. They're relative newcomers - check them out if you haven't heard em.

I actually haven't heard much metal this year aside from NeO and In Mourning.
NeO was good, but In Mourning was unmemorable. And then there's the whole Alcest/Les Discrets thing but I thought both of their releases were weaker than their previous ones. But looking through everyone's lists I see some things that I should probably check out, like the new Katatonia, Anathema, etc. |

There's too much great releases that I'vent had time fully to listen so far of year 2012, but new Canadian band Striker's album was particularly quite good, and Angel Witch's "As Above, So Below" wasn't let-down either.

As a whole for metal in 2012 I haven't really dug much new stuff (at least from bands that everyone here probably have heard of thats not unsigned artists).
^On the other hand, I think this album kicks a lot of ass. Anyone else heard this record? Opinions? |

Asphyx - Deathhammer is the only one I can really think of
New Ihsahn was a bit forgettable and new Devin Townsend was disappointing EDIT: After a little thought, new Cryptopsy, Gojira, Anaal Nathrakh, Napalm Death, Pseudogod, Horrendous and Witchsorrow were decent

Fvck, of course! Chthe'ilist - Amechth'ntaas'm'rriachth was definitely the metal highlight for me. I don't know how it slipped my mind. Cause of the abstract name, perhaps?

wrathrpayer - sun of moloch
Anhedonest - netherworlds Pallbearer - sorrow and extinction I'll put Dodsengel's Imperator on here even though I never gave it a full listen. And I found the new Dragged into Sunlight to be disappointing, but I should give it another listen. Doesn't seemed like I listened to much stuff that came out this year, nothing really caught my attention. edit: oh Timeghoul counts? Them too then.

They flat out robbed the promoter, expecting a fee that they never asked for prior to playing the show and threatened to beat him up if they didn't get paid.

That sounds backwards (promoters normally rob the bands). If thats true thats pretty shitty but if you weren't there you never know if its true. I've threatened a promoter/club owner in texas. Told him we were gonna beat the **** outta him for not paying us. We played, didn't get payed our garuntee. The worst part was we were in the bar all day drinking/eating and easily spent our garauntee there so its not like they didn't have the money. Plus there was a good crowd. Scumbag. I bet he told his friends the same story as the Sylosis one. Too bad we had contracts to prove otherwise. |

A friend of mine was at the show play drums for a supporting band, of which the promoter was also a member. And that's the point, if they had already agreed on a fee I'd understand, but from all reports they hadn't mentioned a thing. It was like £500 they wanted.
