What's special about the 1spot?
I'm mostly just curious about it. Most everyone seems to say that if you can't afford isolated, get a 1spot. What makes it better than the other power supplies? I know 1700ma is higher than most, but the Godlyke is a full 2A. Is it quieter than most 9v PSUs?

nothing really. it just powers multiple pedals at once from a single wall plug. saves space from adapters, not sure about if it makes a difference in sound.
only negaitve is it may need a special plug for reverse polarity.

it's just that it's the most popularly spoken-of regulated adapter out there. it's basically become a generic trademark, like kleenex and coke.

Okay, that makes sense to me then. I thought there was something special I was missing.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/220886918521 Does this look like a good idea? I always get nervous buying from the Chinese companies on ebay. It's negative center 9volts and 1A. Should be good right?

Should be fine. It's an SMPS supply, but so is the One Spot. I've had problems with SMPS supplies before but I've got a few really picky pedals in regards to power supply.

I'd say the 1spot has become what it is largely because it's so dependable, and it flat-out works. It's like the Bad Monkey overdrive. You can buy it anywhere, it's affordable, and you can count on it pretty much no matter what.

Very, very cost efficient. That's what's special about it.
You can get a One Spot for $30, or get a Dunlop DC Brick, which is the same exact thing in the guise of an ISO supply, for $100. Real hard choice. An ISO supply with the same number of outputs will run you at least $150. So between $150 and $30, it becomes obvious why it's so popular. No, it's not as quiet or as reliable, but if you're not gigging, there's no reason to spend 5x as much.

1 Spot to rule them all. 1 Spot to bind them. 1 Spot to bring them all and in the darkness climb them.
**** it, I tried. Sounds way more rape-y than orgasm-y.
