Lightbulb Can't Stay Here

This is an older song I posted a while ago before it was finished. Just figured I'd put up the final product

With a cast-iron constitution, and a freewill made of stone
He took of down the highway with nothing else to show
But a handful of songs and an old guitar in the back of a '95 Ford
Grabbed the keys and a baseball cap, he was gone, out the door

With the ghost of Robert Johnson in his eyes
He says "I might not make it, but I damn sure have to try"
You won't see me again, until they know my name
All I know is I can't stay here

Singing for spare change on crowded streets, tryin' to find his voice
Some people cheered, most people laughed and called it a bunch of damn noise
Broke a string playing "Thunder Road" and couldn't find a spare
He packed up that old Fender and ran far away from there

With the words of Warren Zevon in his head
"Play it All Night Long" and "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead"
You won't see me again, until my name's in lights
All I know is I can't stay here
All I know is I can't stay here

The truck broke down in Georgia, outside some smoky bar
He tried to sneak in underage but couldn't get that far
From the sidewalk on the corner, he could hear the old band play
Met a married girl named Martha, he knew she'd never stay

Saw James Taylor down some country road
"Take to the highway...", just hope you don't explode
Who am I again? I can't remember my own name
All I know is I can't stay here
All I know is I can't stay here

Listen to my shit! ...Please...
