4 Chord song expansion?
OK, so I have this school assignment (Not uncommon, im a simple tenth grader, doesn't have to be brilliant) in which I have to write a song with chords and lyrics.
I know, not a new issue, right? My issue is the chord structure. At the moment It's a very simple four chord song and I absolutely hate the pre-chorus. The verses and the chorus are just C, Am, F, G. That's all fine and dandy. The bridge and the pre-chorus are just a different order (Am, F, C, G). The bridge is fine, I'm cool with that, I've got a good strumming pattern for that. I just hate the pre-chorus. It sounds too...Samey...If you know what I mean. It's just like a broken record. It's very annoying. I'm looking for some chords that are quite simple, but kind-of dramatic that fit in with that sort of thing. It's only acoustic, just played on a steel string, very simple, so it doesn't have to have the hard rock theme in it. It's quite a gentle, happier sort of song. But the pre-chorus is a BIT sadder. Not much. Just a little bit. So yeah, any chance any of you can help me? Xx ![]() |

Am, Em, F, G
Or Am, Em, C, G Just use different chords in the key. I can't break down the I IV II and III and tonic aspects of it because I'm not well versed in theory. |
